After Denver Broncos star cornerback Aqib Talib’s reported incident at a Dallas night club in which he ended up with a gunshot wound, former NFL linebacker Chad Brown is concerned about Talib’s safety and whether or not he will be with the Denver Broncos next season.
“I think you have to be concerned,” said Brown on Afternoon Drive with Eric Goodman and Les Shapiro on Mile High Sports AM 1340 | FM 104.7. “Even if it’s proven that he didn’t shoot himself and that he was innocent in all this, there are far to many incidents that have happened with him that it starts to call into question his character.”
Talib was reportedly at V Live night club – an adult entertainment venue (aka, a strip club) – with friends when a fight broke out which ended up in a shooting with at least two, likely three victims, including Talib. Talib told police he was shot at a nearby park later on in the night.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell is known for giving heavy penalties to players whether they are convicted of the said crime or not.
“From a Roger Goodell prospective he is judge, jury and executioner,” said Brown. “I expect him to come down hard on Aqib Talib.”
Goodell is not the only person that has to consider a punishment for Talib, John Elway and the Broncos have some thinking to do as well.
It also appears Talib’s injury was self-inflicted, further complicating the matter.
“If he is shooting himself, I call into question obviously all types of concerns,” said Brown when asked what he would do if he was thrown into John Elway’s shoes. “I am making the move he is no longer a Denver Bronco.”
