Avalanche recall Dennis Everberg

The Colorado Avalanche have recalled Dennis Everberg from the Lake Erie Monsters for the second time this season, the club announced on Thursday. Everberg will be in the lineup for Thursday night’s road-game against the Florida Panthers.

“I have to play my game. That’s just to go out there and go hard and that’s what I’m going to do,” Everberg said. “That’s kind of the mentality I have, go hard and show everybody else that you have to go hard.”

The 23-year-old rookie has produced one goal and three assists in 19 games with the Avalanche. He will skate opposite fellow rookie Borna Rendulic on a line centered by John Mitchell to start the game. The other three Avalanche lines are set to stay in tact

Forward Ben Street was sent down to Lake Erie in a corresponding move. Street returned for the Avs’ last game in Carolina after a 21-game absence with a hand injury. He has four shots on goal in three games with Colorado on the season.

“I had a good talk with [Street] this morning,” said coach Patrick Roy. “It’s been months since he played, and I thought it would be good for him to go and play, and we’ll re-evaluate after that. Plus, I like the size and the physicality in the game of Dennis.”

Marc-Andre Cliche will be healthy scratched for the second time this season to make room for Everberg in the lineup. Cliche is in the middle of a disappointing campaign with just four points in 38 games.

“Obviously we need to get a W, we’re still out of the playoffs,” Everberg said. “I think its four points up to Winnipeg. We have to get points all the time. They’ve been playing good when I was down. They got some wins and have been playing good lately so let’s keep on doing that.”
