Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog is out with a lower-body injury. His status is week-to-week, according to the team’s media relations department.

Landeskog took a shot from Cale Makar to the groin area in the 5-4 shootout win over the Dallas Stars on Friday. He did not leave the game and played nearly 23 minutes.

“It’s a lower-body injury, not a comfortable one. That’s the time frame that the doctors gave us,” head coach Jared Bednar said.

The 33-year-old forward missed the month before the Olympic break due to an upper-body injury. During his absence, the Avalanche were 6-6-2.

He returned to the ice at the Olympics to captain Team Sweden and remained healthy throughout the international tournament.

Landeskog has seven points in the six games since returning to regular-season action. He has 29 points in 47 games this season.

Unfortunately, Makar was also the culprit in Landeskog’s knee injury, which kept him out for three seasons.
