The Denver Nuggets dropped their first of three Las Vegas NBA Summer League tuneup games, 102-99, at Cox Pavilion. Juan Hernangomez scored 21 points and Malik Beasley had 29 points in the loss. Troy Williams scored 29 for the Rockets, tying Beasley to lead all scorers.
Beasley used a game-high 30 shots to reach his 29, including 3-of-12 from 3-point range.

Hernangomez, sporting goggles following lasik surgery a few days ago, was 6-for-15 from the floor and 5-of-6 from the free throw line. He had eight rebounds to lead all Nuggets.
2017 second-round draft pick Monte Morris had seven points and three assists. He also had three turnovers.

Tyler Lydon, acquired via Utah and the 24th pick, scored six points in his first game in a Nuggets uniform.

Robert Carter Jr. scored 17 points in 23 minutes off the bench, shooting 5-of-7 from the field.
The Nuggets continue Summer League play on Sunday against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Tipoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. MDT on ESPN2.
They conclude the warmup portion on Monday against Toronto before entering the tournament portion of Summer League play later in the week.
