The Denver Broncos are heavy underdogs this weekend to the Buffalo Bills and Josh Allen, but for rookie quarterback Bo Nix, he’s not too concerned with the outside noise and is embracing the camaraderie element that’s thrived inside of the Broncos locker room all season long.

Bo Nix embracing team closeness despite being underdogs vs. Buffalo Bills

Surely, on paper, the Denver Broncos look to be outmatched against the Buffalo Bills in Sunday’s AFC Wildcard Playoff matchup, but none of that seems to concern rookie quarterback Bo Nix, who will lead the team into hostile territory.

From the moment the Broncos drafted him, national pundits haven’t been shy about firing off the hottest takes you could think of when it came to Nix and this Broncos team. Fast forward to now, a lot of those pundits look silly with some of their characterizations of Nix and his talent, and many of them look plain dumb with the boldness they said Denver wouldn’t win more than three games this season.

Denver and Nix won 10 games, and they experienced a variety of different ups and downs, but one thing has stood out about them dating back to training camp and that’s the level of camaraderie they have inside the locker room. Outside noise is just that, and most players have stayed away from scrolling social media or paying too much attention to what pundits have to say, both locally and nationally.

“We have a really close team and we’ve been working really hard at this,” Nix said. “We’ve been in pretty much most of our recent away games—we’ve been in all of them. A few of them we just haven’t been able to close out, so I’m excited to—eventually one is going to go our way. I’m excited to get in this environment and compete. I know these guys. We have each other’s back. No matter what—offense, defense, special teams—somebody’s going to make a play. Somebody’s going to put us in a situation to go out there and win it. I believe that it’s time that we can show and prove, and somebody can go out there and take the game over, and go out there and win it. I think we’ve been building up for this moment. All the obstacles, and the highs and lows we’ve been through this year have set us up right where we are.”

Despite the detractors, Nix and the Broncos have defied the expectations of those on the outside and they hope to do the same thing on Sunday by shocking Josh Allen and the Bills.

“We got to watch a team video with that same song, ‘Dream On,’” Nix said. “It’s kind of like you’ve dreamed for these moments, and you go through life wanting these things. I also don’t want to leave out the fact that—[it’s] not just being complacent with just making the playoffs. I think it’s important for everybody, especially those in our organization and kind of directed towards our team, is like we can go further than just the playoffs. I don’t want to be handcuffed by just making it just because we haven’t done it in so long. If we’re going to make it, we might as well go win some games.”

It will require their best effort, but why can’t this Denver Broncos team who has embraced being ‘Young and Hungry’ go into Buffalo and shock the world? Why not?
