With Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos’ 31-13 victory over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, they inch one step closer to making the playoffs.
The win did not come easy by any means, as for most of the game, the Broncos’ offense looked rather inept. On top of a non-existent run game, Nix struggled mightily. The rookie quarterback would end up tossing three interceptions, but would also match it with three touchdowns.
Despite getting the win, Nix knows he can’t have performances like that.
“I’ve got to be better … regardless that’s three [interceptions], you start feeling like every time I throw it is it going to get picked? You start having those mental thoughts, it’s challenging,” said Nix. “It’s probably the toughest part of playing the position … don’t let one turn into a false vision and see things that aren’t actually there.”
“It’s not the first time I’ve thrown three in a game … [but] hopefully it’s the last.”
The Broncos really struggled to find their footing against the Colts. Despite plays not working, Nix, head coach Sean Payton, and the offense remained stubbornly steadfast in their commitment to the game plan.
“You have to trust the plan,” said Nix. “Usually the game is called and the game is won in the first six days prior to the game. You have the game plan. Usually you did that in a stress-free environment. … You have the plays that you feel good about. Then you go out there and you attempt to execute it. We executed certain plays well, and then we didn’t execute others. Overall whatever plan they give us, it’s our job as players to go out there and make sure that the play works. If it’s not there, we have to protect the play call. If it’s there, then we have to hit it. So there’s a lot that goes into it, but I feel like we’ll just adjust, and continue to move forward and find ways to win.”
With this monster win over the Colts, the Broncos now firmly remain in the driver’s seat in their quest for the postseason. In the final three games of the season, the Broncos only need one win in order to make the playoffs. Obviously, the Broncos will gun for winning out. But with the win against the Colts, their playoff quest becomes much easier.

And for the first time since 2016, the Broncos have secured a winning season. No matter how the remainder of the season goes, the Broncos will have a record over .500.
“I think it speaks to our team. It speaks to what we’ve been able to do this year, what we’ve overcome, the adversity we’ve gone through,” said Nix. “In a game like today, we were it felt like down there for a while, especially in the first half. Good teams respond on a day like today. Good teams find ways to win, and playoff teams find ways to win these close ones. I felt like that’s what we did. It’s a sign of a good football team, and we have that.”
