Last Week Recap
Last week’s predictions resulted in a mixed bag. The Broncos came through in spades – they were awesome and, well, I told you they would be. But I can’t gloat without owning up to my “not so pretty” predictions.
I said the Royals would sweep; they won 4-1 – let’s call it a wash. I said the Nuggets would whip the Minnesota Timberwolves, and in fact, the exact opposite happened. Karl-Anthony Towns went off for 28 and 14 and the Nuggets lost 95-78. Oops.
Hey, I’m human. And you’ve got to get back on the horse that bucked you off. Thus, I’m back for another week of bold predictions.
This week with some ‘thematic’ assists from classic American comedies.
Here goes nuthin’ …
Colts Get Blanked (Video NSFW)
It’s not so bold these days to say that the Broncos will win – not after the beatdown they put on Green Bay. Most believe the “new” Broncos will win in Indy this week, but I’ll take it a step further.
Write this down ladies and germs: The Broncos defense will shut out the Indianapolis Colts. That’s correct, zero points. Andrew Luck is a mess; blame his ribs, his ankle, his head or his coach. No matter, he’s not the same guy. And the Broncos defense isn’t exactly a group that’s going to provide a nurturing environment for “getting right.”
This one will be over early and the Colts won’t be able to answer. Broncos something. Colts nothing.
Avs Go Streaking
Is it too soon to push the panic button on the Colorado Avalanche 2015-16 season? Umm…probably not. This season has not been pretty and everyone within the organization knows it. Simply put, the Avs have been – nicely – the picture of inconsistency, and – not so nicely – downright awful.
There’s got to be a sense of urgency in that locker room – there just has to be. So, I think it surfaces tonight and carries through until next Thursday. The Avs face the Rangers tonight at home, then Philly on Tuesday and Boston on Thursday, both on the road. They’ll win all three.
That probably sounds a bit silly, considering that all three teams have accumulated more points, but the Avs seem to play to their competition. Plus, I can’t get it out of my head that this is the same group that everyone had penciled in for a run at the Western Conference Finals as recently as last October. Surely that team hasn’t totally disappeared.
Someone Might – Just Might – Score More than Steph Curry Tonight
I hope you read that one carefully, because it just might happen. The Nuggets will not go into Golden State tonight and win, but someone might – just might – score more points than Steph Curry.
I know, I know, that’s crazy talk. Curry averages 35.8 points per game. He’s pretty good. And while I don’t mean to bash the Nuggets, I fear this one won’t be close. So not close, in fact, that Curry’s average might go down simply because he’s not needed in the fourth.
Boy oh boy, I hope I’m wrong, but I only am sometimes.
Have a great weekend everyone. Be bold.
