After flaming out with the Denver Broncos, former Wisconsin football legend Montee Ball disappeared from the public eye for quite awhile, only resurfacing when the New England Patriots signed Ball to their practice squad.
Despite the pedigree of being the NCAA’s all-time leader in rushing touchdowns and a former second-round pick, though, Ball didn’t receive a snap this season.
And today, things only got worse.
According to the Wisconsin State Journal, Ball was arrested early Friday morning by the Madison Police for allegedly pushing his girlfriend into a table at a downtown hotel.
“The woman told police she had a dispute with her boyfriend,” a police source told the State Journal. “She said he put his hands on her, picked her up and threw her.”
Ball was taken to the Dane Country Jail on the tentative charge of substantial battery; his girlfriend is reported to have cut her leg severely enough that she needed stitches.
With his NFL career already on the verge of collapse, this certainly won’t help.
