BREAKING: Russell Okung leaves Qualcomm Stadium in an ambulance

Russell Okung

Just four days after Denver Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak was carried away from Sports Authority Field at Mile High in an ambulance, reports out of San Diego are that left tackle Russell Okung left Qualcomm Stadium on a stretcher and in an ambulance following Denver’s 21-13 loss to the Chargers Thursday night.

Reports are sparse coming out of San Diego, but Jeff Legwold of ESPN offered this bit of information that could provide a glimpse into what’s going on with Okung.

“Russell Okung did not do any interviews in the locker room — I was misinformed there — he was helped to the trainers room following the game and taken by ambulance from the stadium. He looked to have an IV hooked up in his arm.” – Jeff Legwold

Legwold’s report was followed by this information from Nicki Jhabvala of the Denver post.

Given Denver’s struggles on the offensive line, losing Okung would be a big blow for Denver. Fortunately, the Broncos have until Monday, Oct. 24 before they play again.

Kubiak was hospitalized with what was initially called “flu-like symptoms” and was later revealed to be a complex migraine headache diagnosis.

***UPDATE***

Late Thursday night the Broncos announced that Okung had been released from the hospital and cleared to return to Denver.
