The Denver Outlaws won the Major League Lacrosse Championship in 2016. They look to defend their title by adding a great addition in Brent Adams. The Outlaws signed him on Tuesday to a two-year contract to play midfield.
Adams loves Colorado and didn’t have any hesitations signing with Denver.
“I just made the move out to Denver back in February, and it’s always been kind of a desire of mine to play for a team that I’m living in the market,” Adams told The Big Show on Mile High Sports AM 1340 | FM 104.7. “I see a ton of value in that and love Colorado.”
Although he lived in Colorado this past season, Adams played for the Boston Cannons for the 2016 season. Looking back at the start of the Outlaws season in ’16, Adams was very impressed. The Outlaws tried to get Adams to play for them last year, but he had his mind made up for that season.
“The term that comes to mind is resilience,” Adams said. “Those guys started off a little rough in the beginning of the season. The guys were trying to make me go midseason and get traded from the Cannons to the Outlaws because I was already living here. But looking at their schedule and their standings I opted out. It wasn’t really that reason, it was more that I wanted to complete the season with the Cannons.”
Adams is excited to join the Outlaws this season and thinks he will fit right in with the team. His talent will definitely benefit this roster and make the Outlaws an even better team.
“In college, I played on both sides of the ball, and I really pride myself on that,” Adams said. “My role on the team is going to be a little more versatile, and I can run on both sides of the ball. Doing as much as I can in between the lines and as well on offense.”
Not only does Adams play for the Outlaws now, but he is in training camp with the Colorado Mammoth trying to make that team as well. It’s been challenging for him to learn the aspects of indoor lacrosse, but Adams is learning as much as he can as he tries to make the team.
“The new challenge of cracking the indoor has got me really interested in learning the different nuances,” Adams said. “Having these different pieces of lacrosse, a game that I grew up with — all of these different nuances that I have to learn and figure out with the indoor game. I’ve been watching and studying for the past three years and really feel that I can cater my game to something that will be valuable for an indoor team.”
