After leaving Monday’s practice and not returning, Denver Broncos running back J.K. Dobbins was back at practice in full pads on Tuesday for Day 12 of training camp.

During Monday’s practice, Broncos running back J.K. Dobbins ran into the team facility with trainers behind him, and he did not return. After that specific practice, Broncos head coach Sean Payton said Dobbins would be fine and that it was a soft-tissue deal.

While that may have been true, Dobbins was back at practice on Tuesday as the team held another two-hour practice in the scorching sun. Dobbins participated in running back drills but did not participate in any of the team periods the Broncos held on the day. While a handful of people took Dobbins’ practice exit on Monday as an opportunity to say “I told you so,” they were Old Takes Exposed on Tuesday with his return to the field.

I think everyone, including Dobbins, understands the perception of his injury history, but he’s a tough dude. He returned to practice eight weeks after having lisfranc surgery ahead of the AFC Championship game. He’s come back from season-ending injuries better than ever the next season.

Having concern is valid, especially when you read and hear that he went into the locker room, but that’s certainly not a time to try to home run some hot takes. Dobbins is very much trying to author his own narrative, as he should, instead of us writers trying to create that for him.

Tuesday’s practice was him showing just that.
