On July 31, at the start of the team’s training camp activities, Denver Broncos fans first got their first in-person look at the multimillion-dollar facelift the team’s Dove Valley (now UCHealth Training Center) facility underwent in the past year – a renovation that prevented fans from attending last year’s camp. The residual effects of bad weather on Monday will keep them away on Tuesday.
The improvements, including a brand new 85,000 square foot indoor practice facility were intended in many ways to better replicate the gameday experience during practice sessions. From the new locker room to the hot and cold tubs and the video towers indoors and out, the new setup might fool even a savvy veteran that he’s in the stadium, not the team’s practice facility.
But the one renovation the team did not include, it seems, is stadium-quality irrigation. After a massive downpour on Monday, the team’s practice fields were flooded with reportedly up to 4 inches of standing water.

The team released these photos just a short while after head coach Gary Kubiak released his first depth chart. The irony was not lost on team writer Phil Milani.

The damage was so extensive that the team has been forced to close Tuesday’s morning practice to fans. The team released this statement on Monday:
The Denver Broncos’ training camp practice on Tuesday will be closed to the public due to damage sustained to the fields, parking lots and viewing areas at UCHealth Training Center during Monday’s storm.
The team will still practice Tuesday from 9:30-11:30 a.m., and that session will remain open to media.
“We are very disappointed that today’s storm damage has forced us to close Tuesday’s practice to our fans, who have shown such incredible support to the Broncos throughout the first part of training camp,” Broncos Vice President of Operations Chip Conway said. “Our operations and grounds crews are working diligently to restore all necessary areas so that we can re-open the UCHealth Training Center to fans as soon as possible.”
