The Denver Broncos out-gained the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. They had more passing yards and more rushing yards. They produced five more first downs. Denver ran more plays than Buffalo. But when the final whistle blew, Denver was on the losing side of the scoreboard.
The 26-16 loss to the Bills was more than just Trevor Siemian‘s two interceptions, a failed fake punt deep in their own territory and Von Miller‘s untimely unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. It was a team loss, with failures in all three phases at various points over all four quarters.
Todd Davis had himself a solid game against Buffalo by statistical standards. His 10 tackles (nine solo) led the team, and he added a sack and two tackles for loss. Still, the linebacker wasn’t content with a strong individual performance. His team lost, and Davis believes the Broncos beat themselves Sunday. Les Shapiro caught up with Davis in the locker room Monday to talk about the game, and how Denver can learn from the mistakes they made in their first loss of the season.
