The great story of Karl Schmitz has ended. Today the Denver Broncos waived Schmitz in a move to add depth on the defensive line in the form of nose tackle Sione Fua.
Schmitz first gained notoriety with his YouTude video in which he demonstrated the ability to hit field goals from 80 yards.
Schmitz was always a long shot to make the final 53-man roster but when Britton Coloquitt reworked his contract to lower his cap hit Schmitz’s fate was all but sealed.
Fua was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in 2011 out of Standard. He was most recently a member of the Cleveland Browns. Fua had a short stint in Denver in 2013 as well.
