Here’s your interesting fact of the day, brought to you buy Mike Klis of 9News: Tony DeCamillis, the father of Denver Broncos special teams coordinator and interim head coach Joe DeCamillis, runs a sausage concession stand at Sports Authority Field.
That’s right, the friendly old man running Uncle Angelo’s Italian Specialties behind the south stands scoreboard is the father of the Denver Broncos interim head coach!
The DeCamillis family is from Arvada, Colorado; they’re lifelong Broncos fans; and now they can say their son was the head coach of the Denver Broncos, if only for a week.
“I think it’s great,’’ Tony told Klis. “I think he’ll do an excellent job. I have to keep myself in control so I don’t bother him.’’
And according to Klis, the whole family will be flying out to California to watch Joe and the Broncos face off against the San Diego Chargers on Thursday Night Football, a trip that was planned well in advance of his naming as interim head coach.
“It’s a good opportunity and he’ll do an excellent job because all the players respect him,’’ Tony said. “And that’s what he brings to the table. Both my sons who are coaches relate very well to teaching.’’
So, next time you’re at Sport Authority Field, make sure you stop by Uncle Angelo’s Italian Specialties and give Tony a big hello!
