Rockies fans worried about Carlos Gonzalez‘s injured ankle got their first bit of good news about his recovery on Thursday when he delivered a go-ahead, bases-clearing double against the Texas Rangers. The hit proved to be the difference in the game and snapped a four-game Rockies losing streak. The best sign of CarGo’s recovery, however, came on Friday courtesy of rookie Trevor Story.
Story posted this video on Instagram (reposted by Gerardo Parra), showing Gonzalez and Parra doing a conga line in the weight room and looking to be in good spirits as both try and get back to 100 percent from ankle injuries.
Parra missed 46 games from June 15 through Aug. 6 with a high ankle sprain suffered in a collision with Story. He is hitting .182 in 22 at-bats since his return.
Gonzalez injured his ankle on a swing Aug. 3 and has played only intermittently since that time. He hopes to avoid at trip to the disabled list.
Story is out for at least the remainder of the regular season with a torn UCL in his left thumb, suffered July 30.
Parra will bat fifth and play right field Friday against the Phillies. Gonzalez will start the game on the bench.
