An official release from the Englewood Police Department states that officers responded to an address in the 3200 block of South Lincoln St., at approximately 1:17 a.m. According to the release, the police received an initial report of a man standing outside the private residence, and while officers were responding, they were informed that the male was now inside the residence.
According to an arrest affidavit obtained by FOX31, Kelly was mumbling incoherently, but tests show that the young quarterback did not have any alcohol in his system.
The occupant eventually chased the man out of the residence, before the alleged trespasser fled the scene. Englewood PD then searched the area, and a man matching the description of the homeowner, was found in a black sport utility vehicle near the Gothic Theatre.
The male who was later identified as Kelly, was placed into custody without incident.
In a statement released by the team, the Broncos responded to the incident.
“We are disappointed that Chad Kelly was arrested early this morning. Our organization has been in contact with Chad, and we are in the process of gathering more information.”
Colorado law states that a person who commits the crime of first degree criminal trespass if such person knowingly and unlawfully enters or remains in a dwelling of another or if such person enters any motor vehicle with intent to commit a crime therein.
