Over his past seven games, Christian Braun is averaging 19.0 points per game on a 75.0 True Shooting percentage.
Though he’s gone through some ups and downs this season, Braun is trending up as a player. He has made progress as a scorer with the ball in his hands, is relentless as an off-ball cutter, and is taking advantage of the Denver Nuggets fast pace in a major way. Braun’s ability to attack on the fast break has helped Denver’s offense stay elite, and he’s consistently impacting games that way in the New Year.
Unfortunately, Denver’s problems against the Chicago Bulls weren’t on the offensive end. Braun was solid defensively, but he’s only one player. The Nuggets collectively weren’t good enough defensively, and that cost them a game they definitely should’ve won on this road trip.
On the latest episode of Pickaxe and Roll, Ryan Blackburn breaks down the Denver Nuggets 129-121 loss to the Chicago Bulls on Monday night. Christian Braun set a new career high in points, and Nikola Jokic once again put up video game numbers. Denver’s defense wasn’t good enough though, and the Nuggets gave up a second half lead because of it.
Ryan breaks down the loss, Denver’s inattention to detail, and how it’s hard to replicate urgency.
