Colorado Avalanche video that will give you chills

The Colorado Avalanche are celebrating 20 years this season (can you believe it’s been that long?!) and obviously they’ve given Denver some incredible memories.

Winning a cup in 1996 was one of the greatest moments in Colorado sports history. The new kid in town announced its presence very quickly.

Following that up with some incredible runs and another cup in 2001 solidified the Avs were a first class franchise. There’s been some down years since then, but I have zero doubt this franchise is once again on the right track in the hands of Joe Sakic and Patrick Roy.

And you know where Sakic and Roy were on June 7, 2001? Winning the Stanley Cup in Denver, of course.

Just because it’s Friday and just because you’re bored here are the incredible highlights from a magical Game 7 win against the New Jersey Devils.

Chills.

Even 14-plus years later it still gets a little dusty every time Ray Bourque raises that cup.

What a team and what a run.

Let’s hope the most iconic trophy in sports returns to Denver sooner rather than later.
