In 2021 and 2022, the Colorado Buffaloes were a laughing stock up front, on both offense and defense.
Although Coach Prime believes in building from the outside in, he has placed an emphasis on overhauling CU’s trench talent during his first offseason in Boulder.
The most recent addition on the line is coming in the form of Jeremiah McCrimmon — a 310-pound offensive line transfer from Coahoma Community College, who started his collegiate career at Mississippi State.
Coach Prime and the Colorado Buffaloes’ staff discovered McCrimmon at their post-graduate camp they held at the end of May.
After a late high school growth spurt launched him from 6-foot-3 and 285-pounds to 6-foot-6 and 310, and in turn, boosted his stock, McCrimmon headed to Starkville as a preferred walk-on and redshirted his first season. After that, he transferred to Coahoma in search of more playing time.
When he heard about Colorado’s post-grad camp, he saw a path to potential playing time.
“My cousin was blowing my phone up about that camp at Colorado,” McCrimmon said, via 247Sports’ Adam Munsterteiger. “Even though Colorado is pretty far, I was willing to do that. That’s one thing about me and my whole family, we love Coach Prime and we love what he is doing for the University of Colorado.”
Plus, thanks to a well-rounded game and impressive physical stature, McCrimmon thinks he has a chance to immediately earn some playing time.
“I wouldn’t really point out one specific attribute [as a weak point] because I feel like my game is all-in-one. If I am missing one thing, then the whole ship can really crash,” McCrimmon told Munsterteiger. “I feel like my technique, my power, my agility, quickness, everything, that’s all packaged in one.”
Hopefully, McCrimmon will quickly be able to aid the Colorado Buffaloes’ offensive line overhaul. If successful, CU’s offense has a real chance to pop this season considering the boatloads of skill-position talent they’ve added.
