UFC President Dana White announced that the UFC would resume fights, with no fans in attendance, at the UFC Apex center in Las Vegas, Nevada. May 9th is the targeted date for the first card.
Justin Gaethje and Tony Ferguson have verbally agreed to terms for the main event fight on what is anticipated to be a stacked card.
Gaethje is riding a three-fight win streak, with all three wins coming by way of first-round KO. Overall, Gaethje rocks a 21-2 record with 17 KOs and two submissions as a pro. This fight will be for the interim lightweight championship, and it will also be Gaethje’s first shot at a UFC title. It is further planned that the winner will face Khabib Nurmagomedov later in the year to unify the lightweight titles.
Joining Gaethje on the card will be Colorado-born, Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone. Cowboy will face Anthony Pettis (22-10) in a welterweight bout. Cerrone is 36-14-1 as a pro, with 10 KO wins and 17 submissions on his resume.
Cerrone currently holds multiple UFC records; however, he will be entering this bout on a three-fight losing streak, most recently losing to Conor McGregor by 1st round TKO at UFC 246.
You won’t want to miss this huge fight card with fight of the night contenders throughout. The bouts are currently targeted for May 9th on ESPN + PPV.
