Colorado MMA Weekend WrapUp: CCCV, Sparta 79/80 and more

Sparta 79 and the King of Sparta lightweight tournament got the weekend started on Friday night and a new king was crowned.

In order to be crowned the King of Sparta, the winners had to fight, and win, a boxing match, kickboxing match and MMA fight in the span of roughly four hours.

JaCobi Jones of Jackson’s MMA Colorado won the amateur lightweight King of Sparta title in dominant fashion, ending the finals bout early with a second-round reverse triangle choke to take home the championship belt and improve his MMA record to 5-1.

Sparta 80 and the Flyweight King of Sparta tournament also took place on Saturday night with many of the fights ending with early stoppages.

Miguel Perez of Elevation Fight team won the flyweight King of Sparta title in the main event of the evening. Perez won a unanimous decision victory in each round of the tournament, securing the championship belt and showcasing his mixed martial arts skills along the way. With the finals win, Perez is now 6-1 as an amateur.

Aniello Piro of the MMA Plug caught up with Perez after he claimed the belt.

Colorado Combat Club

Colorado Combat Club 5 went down in Pueblo on Saturday night and the fights were exciting from beginning to end.

Zac Riley of Pariah MMA won the Main Event bout by second-round rear-naked choke submission to improve to 7-5 as a pro.

In the Co-Main event, Caleb Crump of Elevation Fight team picked up a 1st round TKO win and the second victory of his pro career.

Crump immediately took the fight to his opponent, securing the takedown, transitioning to dominant position, and ending the fight with heavy ground and pound. Crump moved to 2-1 as a pro with the win.

Factory X’s Marquel Mederos is your new Colorado Combat Club, amateur lightweight champion. Mederos won the title by 2nd round TKO finish in a featured bout of the evening. With the win, Mederos improved to 5-3 overall and took home the championship hardware.

New Fight Announcements:

Michael stack (4-0) of Trials MMA will be fighting at LFA 85 in Broomfield on April 3rd where he will face the 6-3 Emeka Ifekandu.

In upcoming local fight action, Fury FC 44 is coming to Denver and a new matchup has been announced: Jordan Titoni (7-5) of Factory X will take on LeVille Simpson (9-5) of Elevation Fight Team.

Additionally, Austin Jones (8-5) of Factory X will throw down in the main event against an opponent yet to be announced.

The co-main event, the Fury FC featherweight female champ, Courtney “The Lion” King of Z’s training gym will make her return, also against an opponent yet to be named.
