After starting the season on the disabled list, Jorge De La Rosa has struggled in the early parts of 2015, but had reason to celebrate after the fourth inning of Thursday’s afternoon tilt with Philadelphia when he set the franchise record for strikeouts.
De La Rosa entered the game with a 1-2 record and 6.56 ERA on the season, despite a seven-inning, two-hit, zero runs effort against the Dodgers on Saturday, but could not make it out of the fifth inning against the Phillies, despite striking out five.
The final punchout was number 774 in his Rockies career, good for first on the franchise’s all-time list, passing former teammate Ubaldo Jimenez.
De La Rosa spent time with Milwaukee and Kansas City before coming to Colorado. At his current pace, he could reach 1,000 career strikeouts by mid-summer.
