Already without Erik Johnson, the Colorado Avalanche blueline took yet another blow on Thursday. Shortly before their contest with the Anaheim Ducks, it was revealed that Tyson Barrie wouldn’t play due to a lower-body injury.

With 23 in 42 games, Barrie currently leads Avalanche defensemen in points. His 20 assists rank first on the team. The 25-year-old has 43 goals and 176 points in 306 career NHL games.
It is unclear how/when Barrie got injured, nor when he will return. He did not take to the ice for warmups prior to Thursday’s game. Barrie signed an four-year deal with the Avalanche in the offseason, carrying an average annual value of $5.5 million.
