According to Clarence Hill Jr. with the Star-Telegram, Denver Broncos linebacker DeMarcus Ware is considering a return to the Dallas Cowboy as he nears the end of his career.
“His representative might have some informal talks with the Cowboys during the NFL Scouting Combine this week,” said Hill.
Ware has spent the last three seasons with the Broncos, helping them win a Super Bowl in 2015. Yet, his 2016 season was less successful campaign in orange and blue due to missing six games because of a ruptured disc in his back.
“The question for the Cowboys is how much does he have left?” said Hill. “How [does] he [fit] in a Rod Marinelli’s defense that doesn’t generally make allowances for specialists.”
If Ware were to migrate south to Dallas, it would add yet another element of adversity for Broncos new head coach Vance Joseph. Not to worry though, there are solutions to this potential problem. 2015 first-round-draft-pick Shane Ray is ready to take on the brunt of the workload. In his rookie year, Ray put up 15 tackles. In his sophomore season, he bolstered 33 tackles. His consistent improvement shows that he is ready to take on a larger role, and become an every down player for the 2017 season.
Although Ray has proven himself on the stat sheets, it would still be an unfortunate loss for the Broncos defense if Ware were to leave Denver, and head back to his Dallas roots.
