The milestones continue to come for Denver Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas, who passed Hall of Fame tight end Shannon Sharpe for second-most touchdown receptions in franchise history in the first quarter of the Broncos game Sunday against the New York Jets. He then passed Sharpe for second on the team’s all-time receiving yards leaderboard in the third quarter.
Thomas snagged a 20-yard touchdown from quarterback Trevor Siemian in the north end zone to put the Broncos up 10-0, passing Sharpe and grabbing his 56th career touchdown reception. He now remains behind only Rod Smith (68), for the title of touchdown reception king for the Broncos.
Thomas caught his sixth pass of the game in the third quarter, a slant for 25 yards, passing Sharpe on the Broncos’ franchise list for second all-time in receiving yards.
Thomas came into Sunday’s game needing 58 receiving yards to pass Sharpe (8,439), but is a long ways away from Smith’s top mark of 11,389 yards.
