The Denver Broncos made two roster moves on Tuesday just one day after they moved on from former 2022 third-round draft pick Greg Dulcich.

Denver Broncos activate OLB Drew Sanders

After tearing his Achilles in April, the Denver Broncos are officially activating second-year outside linebacker Drew Sanders to the 53-man roster, as first reported by Mike Klis of 9News. Sanders has made terrific progress in his return from the Achilles injury, which he had surgically repaired.

He’s been getting work on the Broncos side field dating back to training camp, gradually increasing his workload while working out with Beau Lowery, the VP of Player Health and Performance. Sanders looks bigger in his upper body and has been on the team’s practice field for the last few weeks after the team opened his window to return.

He’s been a full participant in practice for the last two weeks and has looked good in the portions of practice we’ve been able to see.

Sanders lands on the 53-man roster after the team moved on from Greg Dulcich yesterday, rather than him reverting back to the PUP list for the year. This was a move I didn’t necessarily expect to happen, considering the Broncos’ current outlook at outside linebacker with Nik Bonitto and Jonathon Cooper as the starters, with Jonah Elliss and Dondrea Tillman filling into the rotation behind them.

With Sanders return, he’ll be on the active roster and could make his season debut on Monday Night Football against the Cleveland Browns, and if he’s active, there’s a chance that Tillman ends up as a gameday inactive or Sanders could find himself on the inactive list to start.

Denver also waived veteran offensive lineman Calvin Throckmorton, creating space on the 53-man roster. Wide receiver Josh Reynolds has one week remaining until his window to return expires, but he’ll likely be activated Wednesday to the 53-man roster, putting him in a position to fully return against the Cleveland Browns.
