The Denver Broncos have announced the official dates for the start of training camp ahead of the 2023 NFL season. While training camp will consist of intense practice, various position battle competitions, and storylines — Broncos Country will also be allowed to attend various practices that will be open to the public.
The Broncos will first report for training camp beginning on Friday, July 28, which will kick off several weeks of practice that will help determine the course the team takes this year, coming off last year’s 5-12 record. A lot has changed since the last time Denver reported for camp.
For the first time, the team announced that practice attendance will require a ticket that can be acquired for free through Ticketmaster beginning on June 28 at 10:00 a.m. MT. The Broncos also announced that each guest can claim up to four free tickets for each practice. Each practice will begin at 10:00 a.m.
Broncos fans can get their first glimpse of new head coach Sean Payton over the course of the 12 practices open to the public. Payton will be tasked with not only helping turn around the Broncos offense and Russell Wilson, but more importantly, he’s been tasked with trying to change the course of the franchise, which has struggled mightily since Peyton Manning’s retirement following Super Bowl 50.
Payton’s history as a coach is promising for Broncos fans who have hope that the team can restore the tradition of winning in the Mile High City. His career record as a head coach is 152-89 (.631), and he has only had four losing seasons over the course of his 15 years as a head coach in the NFL. He’s coached in 17 playoff games and boasts a post-season record of 9-8, including one Super Bowl win.
As it pertains to divisional play, Payton coached seven seasons where the Saints finished first in the NFC South with only one season where the team finished in last place. The Broncos needed a drastic change in their football culture on the field, and Payton seemingly appears to be the best equipped to help the Broncos return back to their roots of winning.
Training camp is where so much of Payton’s plan will be put into motion, and under his direction, it will be interesting to see how things play out in his first season as the team’s head coach.
The Denver Broncos kick off all the training camp action at the Centura Training Center on Friday, July 28.
