The Denver Broncos are riding the high of winning their ninth game of the year on Sunday after rallying against the Indianapolis Colts. While the end result was good news, the Broncos came out of Sunday’s game banged up and face a short turnaround on Thursday Night Football against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Patrick Surtain II snagged his fourth interception of the season in Sunday’s win against the Colts, and then took a hard low shot from Josh Downs. He limped off the field and went into the blue medical tent before being cleared to come back out.

With Denver up 31-13, Surtain remained on the field and seemingly reaggravated the injury and left the game with trainers. The good news is that he’s dealing with a minor ankle sprain, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.

We saw Surtain in the Broncos locker room on Sunday night after the game, and he appeared to be moving around well. He didn’t appear to be grimacing or walking gingerly, which was a great sign.

Players are back in the building here today for meetings, watching the film from yesterday’s game, they’ll get a lift in and will undergo treatment for the remainder of the day as they prepare to get their bodies ready for Thursday Night Football.

Denver will practice on Tuesday, which will likely be at a walkthrough pace before a final walkthrough on Wednesday before they travel that afternoon to Los Angeles.

It’s safe to assume Surtain will likely undergo as much treatment as possible this week to put himself in a position to play, but we’ll monitor his status all week long.

Running back Jaleel McLaughlin also left Sunday’s game with a quad injury and did not return. Defensive lineman D.J. Jones left with a finger injury and did not return either.

Both DL Malcolm Roach and OG Quinn Meinerz left the game on Sunday with injuries but returned to the field during the game.

Denver will release an estimated injury report this afternoon, even though the Broncos did not officially practice.
