The Denver Broncos have given their All-Pro Defensive Player of the Year cornerback, Patrick Surtain II, a much-deserved pay raise after the market value for him has increased year after year.
Denver Broncos give CB Patrick Surtain II a pay raise after contract adjustment
After initially resetting the cornerback market a few years ago with his initial extension, Denver Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II is getting a pay raise in 2026 after the team gave him a $5M raise with a contract adjustment, as negotiated by his agent Tory Dandy.
His initial extension a couple of years ago was a four-year $96M deal, with $77.5M guaranteed and $40.6M guaranteed at signing. Shortly after he signed his initial extension, Jalen Ramsey reset it a week later with his extension by the Los Angeles Rams.
In 2026, he’ll receive a $5M increase in salary, and he also has an opportunity to make an additional $5M if he makes a Pro Bowl or receives an All-Pro selection, which is more than likely going to take place if he stays healthy this upcoming season.
With Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Quinyon Mitchell and New England’s Christian Gonzalez in line for an extension next for their teams, the market value of the cornerback position is expected to skyrocket once again.
Surtain is currently the fifth-highest paid after Sauce Gardner, Jaycee Horn, Derek Stingley Jr., and Trent McDuffie signed their deals in the last two seasons.
For the Broncos, they’ve got the best cornerback in the entire league and they’re paying him as the fifth-highest because Denver got ahead of the impending market. And as George Paton and Sean Payton have reiterated, they want to take care of their core players.
