The Denver Broncos offense got off to a slow start in Sunday’s win against the Las Vegas Raiders, but they found a way to put together an efficient second half, scoring 34 unanswered points after trailing 10-0 early in the first quarter. Our latest Broncos Film Room takes a look at Bo Nix and the offense’s performance.

The Broncos offense had a rough go in the first half of Sunday’s game against the Raiders, especially on third down. Denver was 1-of-6 on third down, but some of their struggles in that area specifically occurred due to some negative plays on first and second down. That’s one of the reasons Denver has gotten off to a slow start offensively over the last handful of weeks.

The Broncos finished the game 3-of-12 on third down, which means they converted 2-of-6 third down opportunities in the second half. One of the bigger differences in the second half was more efficient production on first down and on second down. Bo Nix finished with 19-of-27 passing for 206 yards, two passing touchdowns, and one rushing touchdown that helped the Broncos win 34-18.

Nix connected with 11 different receivers, with Javonte Williams leading the way with 50 yards receiving on five receptions while running the ball effectively with 61 yards on 13 carries.

The Raiders in this game, mostly sent four pass rushers all game at Nix, with Maxx Crosby getting home for two sacks, and Christian Wilkins getting one. In the film room above, you’ll see how the Raiders attacked Sean Payton’s offense, and what their gameplan was against Nix, who made them pay in the second half with some well placed throws.

And of course, we took a look at the shot play Nix had to Troy Franklin on third down that ended up being dropped. Franklin didn’t appear to be the initial target or read on the play, but the Raiders decision on defense to overcommit in man coverage allowed him the opportunity to get behind the defense.

Each week we’ll break down the film on Mile High Sports YouTube page.
