The Denver Broncos were busy on Tuesday as they made a handful of roster personnel moves ahead of their first practice of the week on Wednesday as the team prepares for Sunday’s home AFC West showdown against Justin Herbert, and the Los Angeles Chargers.
Denver Broncos make several roster moves on Tuesday
Injuries have impacted the Denver Broncos on the offensive line, with center Luke Wattenberg and right tackle Alex Palczewski dealing with injuries following Sunday’s win at home against the Las Vegas Raiders. Some of these injuries have forced them to make some moves on their practice squad and active roster.
After working him out several weeks ago, the Broncos brought back an old friend, signing veteran offensive tackle Cam Fleming to the practice squad. Fleming spent three years in Denver (2021-2023) and appeared in 26 games with them while starting in 20 over that span. He has the capability of playing left and right tackle.
The team also signed center Dieter Eiselen, and wide receiver Kaden Davis to their practice squad. In order to make room for their signings, the team released running back Salvon Ahmed and cornerback Quinton Newsome from the practice squad. Practice squad offensive guard Will Sherman was placed on the practice squad injury list, which opened up another spot for that unit.
Inside linebacker Levelle Bailey was promoted to the team’s 53-man roster, where a spot was left open after the team placed running back Tyler Badie on injured reserve last week. With Palczewski dealing with a high ankle sprain, there’s a chance he misses time or could land on short-term injured reserve, which would subsequently free up another spot on the 53-man roster, which could lead to rookie running back Audric Estime being elevated from IR.
As for the severity of Wattenberg or Palczewski’s injury from an official standpoint, it’s unclear where they stand, and Wednesday’s practice will give greater insight into it after the team releases its official injury report.
Denver’s hoping to stay healthy against a Los Angeles Chargers team that is coming into Sunday’s game fresh off of their bye week.
