The Denver Broncos made four roster moves following the conclusion of rookie minicamp according to the NFL’s Transaction Wire.

Denver waived Jackson State undrafted rookie wide receiver Dallas Daniels, Western Colorado cornerback Darrious Gaines, Kent State tight end Kris Leach, and Fort Valley State running back Emanuel Wilson.

Each of these four players contributed during Rookie Minicamp that took place on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the Centura Health Training Center.

Upon the conclusion of the team’s minicamp, Sean Payton and the rest of the Broncos’ coaching staff evaluated film and every rep to ensure that they bring forth the right guys onto their 90-man training camp roster.

“Historically—and we talk about this all of the time as coaches—for me, my biggest fear is that somebody that is out here for three days ends up somewhere else [and is] playing well,” Payton said following Saturday’s minicamp practice. “We are really trying to look at everyone. Not just the draft picks, but the guys that are here for three days. The challenge sometimes because we’re not in pads, if any one of us were here for just three days, we’re going to go pretty hard and try to make an impression.”

From a numbers standpoint, the Broncos have 11 wide receivers on the roster heading into training camp, seven running backs, five tight ends, and 10 cornerbacks which factored into their decision

On top of the four roster moves on Monday, the Broncos’ signing of XFL tryout players Ben DiNucci and Jacques Patrick is expected to be finalized and official on Tuesday after both players passed their physicals.

DiNucci and Patrick were two of five veteran tryout players who also participated during Saturday’s rookie minicamp — doing enough to impress the coaching staff.

Several other college free agents had the opportunity to try out for the team as well over the weekend, but it’s unclear at this point if any invitations to training camp have been provided.

Some standouts included Central Michigan wide receiver Carlos Carriere and Washington State defensive tackle Christian Mejia, but did they do enough to generate consideration for mandatory minicamp and training camp?

Only time will tell.

The Broncos also re-signed RB Tyreik McAllister after initially waiving him last Friday. Payton did acknowledge that some of the roster moves from last week were procedural and that some players could be back.

“Things are in flux, Payton said on Saturday. “We’re in that process where some of these guys may come back. It’s the hard thing when you’re trying to manage the numbers. If you sign an undrafted free agent to a contract, he counts towards your number. There might be a couple players that all of the sudden may be coming back to us in a week. I don’t want to go any further than that. It varies with each player, and I know [OLB] Jake [Martin] was one of them.”

The Denver Broncos will be back on the field on May 23-25 for the start of voluntary minicamp.
