The Denver Broncos may be getting a boost in their run game going forward after the team activated rookie running back Audric Estime off of injured reserve. How might he fit back into the offense after missing time since Week 1?
Denver Broncos activate Audric Estime off of injured reserve
The Denver Broncos have officially activated rookie running back Audric Estime off of injured reserve. After suffering an ankle injury in Week 1 against the Seattle Seahawks, Estime went on short-term IR and missed the last four games. He’s been working steadily on the team’s side field to return and will be back into the offensive mix.
Over the course of the last three weeks, the Broncos are 3-0. While the Broncos’ defense is playing at an elite level, one of the elements that have contributed to the win streak has been Denver finding a way to get the run game going at various points in the last three weeks.
Whether that was Tyler Badie’s run against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, or Javonte Williams and Jaleel McLaughlin’s contributions in the second half against the New York Jets, and their impact in Sunday’s win vs. the Las Vegas Raiders, the run game helped open things up for rookie QB Bo Nix and the offense.
Sunday’s game saw Denver utilize just Williams and McLaughlin after they placed Badie on injured reserve. Undrafted rookie free agent Blake Watson didn’t see a single offensive touch, despite being on the active roster.
In Sunday’s win vs. the Raiders, Williams had 13 carries for 61 yards, averaging 4.7 yards per carry, running through contact and also leading Denver in receiving yards with 50.

With Estime returning, it will be interesting to see if the Broncos can find a way to effectively utilize all three as the team aims to have a more sustainable offensive approach that can help them establish their identity.
