Denver Broncos OLB Nik Bonitto exits Tuesday’s training camp practice with an injury

Tuesday’s practice for the Denver Broncos was the second day of them wearing pads. During the team’s first 9-on-7 drill, outside linebacker Nik Bonitto came up hobbled after a play before heading into the locker room and going inside with the trainers.

Bonitto came up limping after a play where the team emphasis was an inside run period. Trainers stood with him on the side for a few minutes before they walked with him into the training facility. Bonitto was able to walk off under his own power, but he did not return for the remainder of practice.

Broncos head coach Sean Payton told us after that Bonitto will be fine and that he doesn’t have any updates. Starting center Luke Wattenberg left Monday’s practice with an injury and did not return, but was back on the field on Tuesday with a jersey and shorts without a helmet, before doing some work on the side field.

We’ll see whether or not Bonitto is spotted for Wednesday’s fully padded, two and a half hour practice. With Bonitto missing a bulk of today’s team periods, other players like Jonah Elliss, Que Robinson, Drew Sanders, and Dasan McCullough saw more reps at outside linebacker throughout the day.
