The Denver Broncos have somewhat of a timeline surrounding franchise quarterback Bo Nix and his recovery, after he had successful surgery on his ankle this past week to repair a fracture in one of his bones.
Denver Broncos QB Bo Nix’s estimated recovery from ankle surgery around 12 weeks
Earlier this morning, ESPN’s Adam Schefter (no, not me) reported the first initial timeline of recovery for Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix after he had successful surgery this past Tuesday to repair the fracture he had suffered in the team’s monumental overtime win last week against the Buffalo Bills.
In Schefter’s report, it was outlined that Nix is not supposed to put any weight on his ankle for at least four weeks. He is expected to be present today in Denver in the owner’s suite for the AFC Championship game against the New England Patriots. It’s expected that after 12 weeks, Nix can begin returning to activity.
Dr. Norman E. Waldrop of Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center performed the surgery.
The early expectation is that Nix will be good to go for the team’s offseason program.
He’ll work closely with Broncos VP of Player Health and Performance Beau Lowery and the team’s medical staff throughout the rehab process.
As it stands, there isn’t any long-term concern with Nix or his ankle.
“This marks the third time that Nix has broken his ankle playing football, but this break was in a different spot, and doctors have told him that the injury is “nothing to be concerned about long term,” according to a source, Schefter reported.
In just several hours, the Broncos will take the field as they host the Patriots, with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line as Jarrett Stidham takes over for Nix today.
Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. MT on CBS and Paramount +.
