On Monday afternoon, the Denver Broncos and general manager John Elway announced a five-year contract extension to keep Elway in Denver through the 2021 season.

In Elway’s six seasons as a member of the Broncos front office, the team has a regular-season winning percentage of 69.8 percent, two AFC Championships and one Super Bowl victory. Broncos both past and present took to social media to share their contentment with Elway and what he has done for the franchise.

Aqib Talib was one of the first to congratulate Elway, commenting on his legendary status.

Former Bronco and teammate of Elway Mark Schlereth also reacted to his friend’s continued stay in Denver.

Chris Harris joined in on the praise, too. As an undrafted free agent, Harris thanked Elway for giving him the opportunity to prove his talents on the field.

Both as a player and general manager, Elway’s impact on the Broncos franchise has been paramount. Around the NFL writer Chris Wesseling summed up Elway’s unmatched importance to the franchise throughout the years.
