The Denver Broncos were back on the practice field once again on Thursday as they get ready for Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers. After being limited on Wednesday, Broncos safety P.J. Locke was not present for Thursday’s practice after suffering a thumb injury yesterday.

Denver Broncos Week 8 Injury Report vs. Carolina Panthers

P.J. Locke’s absence on Thursday due to a thumb injury is something worth monitoring. During Wednesday’s media viewing portion of practice, Locke was present and participated in individual drills. His absence on Thursday leads to potential questions about Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers, but Friday’s final practice of the week will be the determining factor.

If Locke is unable to go, the Broncos will more than likely utilize Brandon Jones and a potential combination of Devon Key, JL Skinner, or Keidron Smith. It’s possible Locke received treatment, but we’ll monitor his status at tomorrow’s practice.

For the second consecutive day, cornerback Patrick Surtain II was a full participant as he continued to move through the NFL’s concussion protocol. This is a positive indication that he’ll be able to make his return on Sunday against the Panthers offense, who plans on starting second-year former No.1 overall pick Bryce Young.

Offensive tackles Mike McGlinchey (knee) and Alex Palczewski (ankle) were both limited participants for the second consecutive day. McGlinchey returned last week against the New Orleans Saints, but should be good to go this week barring any setback.

Defensive tackle Malcolm Roach (illness) returned as a full participant on Thursday after missing Wednesday.

Friday’s practice will be the final one of the week before holding a walkthrough on Saturday. We’ll keep our eyes peeled on whether or not Locke returns to practice on Friday and what that may mean for his game status on Sunday.
