Will Parks had to wait six rounds for the Denver Broncos to call his name, but now that he’s officially a member of the team, Parks will use every single minute of his time in Denver to benefit himself.

Although Parks’ ultimate goal is to win a championship, the goal heading into camp is establish himself as a professional, both on and off the field.

“Right now, [the goal] going into training camp for this season is to establish myself as a pro,” Parks told Sports Guy Mike on Mile High Sports radio AM 1340 | FM 104.7.

Ray Jackson — who was our player development — always, always thrives on being a pro. Handling yourself like a pro, doing everything you’ve got to do to become a pro in this league … this is the best organization in the world of sports, period, and they pride themselves on being a Bronco and being a pro.”

Parks cites the handling of financial situations as the primary takeaway from the rookie symposium. Unlike players who get themselves into trouble, Parks uses the resources available to him for help, whether it be texting Jackson or Eric Smith.

The Broncos even had the district attorney and FBI agents come and address the rookies on “don’t go here, don’t go there.”

Sports Guy Mike said he’s heard of rookies who attend the symposium and “get nothing out of it,” while Parks added to that, pointing out that the ones who don’t succeed in the league don’t listen to the symposium.

Parks is definitely one of the listeners, even going so far as to jot down notes to himself about off-limit places for rookies.

The Philadelphia native says the love from his hometown is what fuels his fire to be who he has become today.

“That type of love drives me to be the best person I can be, the best player I can be, period — on and off the field.”
