After Denver Broncos free agent linebacker Dre Greenlaw suffered a quad injury, rumored timelines of his recovery created confusion about the team’s marquee signing.

That timeline has now been confirmed by head coach Sean Payton.

Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton doesn’t normally share injury timeline updates when it comes to players on his roster, but he took time after Saturday’s rookie minicamp to update everyone on the timeline of Dre Greenlaw.

Greenlaw suffered a quad injury during workouts a few weeks ago and somebody in the San Francisco market initially reported that the Broncos linebacker would miss significant time leading into the regular season.

This was disputed to be false by Greenlaw shortly after it was reported and the expectation was that he’d miss weeks, not months.

“He’s on schedule,” Payton said. “I saw the early reports, and you don’t know how tempted I get sometimes… But I showed great restraint. He’s doing well and will be a full participant in training camp. All of that’s doing great, but I refrained.”

Greenlaw is continuing to undergo treatment and rehab at the team facility under the direction of Beau Lowery, the Broncos’ VP of Player Health and Performance, and his staff.

Now that rookie minicamp has officially wrapped up, we’ll get our first look at Broncos rookies and veterans on the practice field on May 27-29, June 3-5, with mandatory minicamp taking place on June 10-12.

The offseason program continues as the season approaches.
