The Denver Broncos went through the gauntlet of trimming their roster from 90 players to 53 on Tuesday, and now they have their 17-man practice squad initially set in place going into Week 1 against the Seattle Seahawks next week.

Denver Broncos initial practice squad roster set

Despite being released by the team during the initial wave of roster cuts, the Denver Broncos brought back veterans Michael Burton and Lil’Jordan Humphrey back onto the team’s practice squad. With Nate Adkins making the 53-man roster as a hybrid tight end/fullback and Denver keeping five total wide receivers, they had to make those moves with both vets.

Broncos general manager George Paton alluded to their returns on Tuesday during his post-roster cut press conference.

“Roster management,” Paton said. “We’re trying to keep the best players we can for as long as we can. So you’re exactly right. There are a couple of vets who will likely be active Week 1. You probably know who they are, but certainly we already have a few guys who are already going to be on our practice squad.”

Denver was not awarded any players off of waivers from around the league. Denver attempted to bring veteran center Sam Mustipher back, but he chose to go to the Los Angeles Chargers. Defensive lineman Elijah Garcia signed with the New York Giants practice squad. Denver signed former Los Angeles Chargers tight end Donald Parham to their practice squad.

Here is the list of players that make up Denver’s 17-player practice squad. The 17th player is made possible by tight end Thomas Yassmin, who is designated under the NFL’s International Player exemption, allowing him to be on the practice squad as an additional piece, whereas most NFL teams without that designation have 16 players. Right now Denver has one spot available remaining.
