After the Denver Broncos waived wide receiver Michael Bandy on Tuesday, the team had a spot open on the 53-man roster. Prior to Wednesday’s practice, the Broncos signed Lil’Jordan Humphrey off of the New York Giants practice squad, bringing him onto the active roster.

This move is mainly aimed at adding an immediate impact to the Broncos’ special teams unit, which has struggled this season, and gives Denver a big blocking receiver who has the chance to make some big catches and plays from time to time.

It puts the Broncos’ active roster at six total receivers with Courtland Sutton, Pat Bryant, Marvin Mims, Troy Franklin, Trent Sherfield, and now Humphrey.

Humphrey signed with the New York Giants this offseason during free agency and played a handful of snaps in Denver’s matchup with them in Week 7.

In three games this season for the Giants, he has four catches for 55 yards, which all came in one game this season when they defeated the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday Night Football. He had two targets against the Broncos in Week 7.

He was not in attendance for Wednesday’s practice because he was on a flight to Denver. Humphrey is expected to play on Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs.
