The Denver Broncos have extended exclusive rights to free agents Paul Cornick, Brandon Marshall and offensive guard Ben Garland. Marshall will receive $585,000 with Garland and Cornick receiving a $510,000 minimum base salaries.
Marshall played particularly well during the 2014-2015 season. He made 110 tackles in 14 games. His position may switch to inside linebacker in Denver’s 3-4 scheme under Wade Phillips. His 110 tackles ranked second in the NFL during 2014 among players who were in their first year as a starter.
Garland appeared in eight games this past season as a reserve. He was previously a part of the practice squad during 2012 and 2013. He’s a former Mountain West Conference lineman from the U.S. Air Force Academy and signed on with the Broncos as a free agent in 2010.
Cornick started six games in 2014 on the Broncos’ patchwork offensive line. He is a second year pro and will be interesting to see how he fits into Denver’s plans as they rework the offensive line this offseason.
The Denver Broncos have also agreed to terms with long snapper Aaron Brewer yesterday. Brewer is in his forth year with the Denver Broncos and has played in every regular season and playoff game since joining the team. He signed with the New York Jets as a college free agent from North Dakota State University in 2012.
