The Denver Broncos are clearly struggling at quarterback, both in terms of injury and performance, which might explain why the team had former Texans quarterback T.J. Yates in for a workout on Monday.
Yates, who played for Gary Kubiak in Houston, suffered a torn ACL a year ago, and is now looking to get himself back on an NFL roster.
During two separate stints with the Texans, Yates started a total of nine games, including two playoff games, going 5-4 with one postseason victory.
Last week, Trevor Siemian missed his second start of the season with a sprained foot, and he’s still day-to-day heading into this weekend’s game versus the Tennessee Titans. While the Broncos aren’t likely to be looking at Yates as a starting option, he could prove to be some insurance down the homestretch of the season.
The Broncos also worked out 11 other players, including running back Bernard Pierce and wide receiver Keshawn Martin.
We’ll soon learn whether the Broncos plan on signing any one of these players.
