After missing all of last week while going through the NFL’s concussion protocol, the Denver Broncos saw wide receiver Courtland Sutton and outside linebacker Baron Browning return to practice on Wednesday ahead of the team’s season-finale against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Broncos turn in first practice before final game of the season
The tempo and energy at the Broncos’ Wednesday practice was upbeat as the team prepares for their final game of the 2023 NFL season. After a 1-5 start, the Broncos find themselves in a position to secure their first winning season since 2016.
Despite being eliminated from the playoffs, the locker room morale was high for Denver on Wednesday as the players embrace focus on the things they can control, and that’s trying to get their ninth win of the season on Sunday.
One boost for the Broncos on Wednesday saw the return of wide receiver Courtland Sutton and outside linebacker Baron Browning after they missed practice all of last week going through the NFL’s concussion protocol.
Both players were spotted wearing a blue non-contact jersey during Wednesday’s practice. Browning and Sutton were both listed as limited/full participants in practice.
Offensive tackle Mike McGlinchey was not spotted during Wednesday’s practice. McGlinchey left Sunday’s game against the Chargers with a rib injury and did not return.
Second-year rookie Marvin Mims was limited in Wednesday’s practice. He suffered a hamstring injury last Thursday during practice and missed Friday’s practice and Sunday’s game. At this point of the season, Denver may protect one of their most financially invested options on the offensive line and the highest draft pick from last year from Sunday’s game.
It bares monitoring the rest of the week if McGlinchey is spotted on the team’s side field at some point this week, but if not, it will be safe to assume that Denver will look at veteran Cam Fleming and elevate Phillip Dorsett from the practice squad to close out the final week of the regular season.
Running back Samaje Perine received a veteran’s day of rest as he has the past four weeks and should return as a full participant on Thursday.
