The Denver Broncos announced their list of inactive players ahead of Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Denver Broncos inactives vs. Las Vegas Raiders
The Broncos announced seven players as inactive for Sunday’s season opener against the Raiders, including five rookies.
Jerry Jeudy inactive vs. Raiders on Sunday
The Broncos will be without Jerry Jeudy for Sunday’s game as he continues to recover from the hamstring injury he suffered several weeks ago.
Jeudy did a brief on-field workout in front of strength and conditioning coach Dan Dalrymple, head coach Sean Payton, and general manager George Paton.
He looked like he was moving well, but it appears that Denver is being smart with bringing him back.
In his absence, the Broncos elevated wide receivers Lil’Jordan Humphrey and Phillip Dorsett and will face the Raiders with five active receivers.
Other Broncos inactives vs. Las Vegas Raiders
Aside from Jerry Jeudy’s absence on Sunday, Denver will also be without several other players.
Cornerbacks Riley Moss (abdomen) and Ja’Quan McMillian were listed as inactive. Moss continues to progress in his recovery from core muscle surgery and could return soon.
McMillian was a healthy scratch, which is a surprise, considering he’s the top backup option to Patrick Surtain and Damarri Mathis.
Cornerbacks Fabian Moreau and Tremon Smith will get more reps on special teams and serve as backups on Sunday.
Rookies JL Skinner, Nate Adkins, Thomas Incoom, and Alex Forsyth round out the remaining inactive players against the Raiders.
Adkins is the most surprising inactive, considering his status and the role he’s been playing for the team in the preseason and during practice. Tight ends Chris Manhertz, Greg Dulcich, and Adam Trautman will be the three active players at the position alongside fullback Michael Burton.
The Denver Broncos will kick off action on Sunday against the Raiders at 2:25 p.m. MT.
