A few days after the injury gods smote down Vance Walker with a season-ending ACL injury, Derek Wolfe was left limping off the field after Wednesday morning’s practice against the San Francisco 49ers.

Wolfe, who was originally listed as the starter opposite Walker, would be a monumental loss for the Broncos. After a breakout season last year, and with Malik Jackson already leaving for Jacksonville in the offseason, Wolfe was expected to play a major role on Denver’s defense.
Wolfe is also entering the first year of the four-year, $36.7 million contract he signed late last season.
According to Troy Renck, head coach Gary Kubiak said Wolfe rolled his ankle and the team is hoping it’s not too serious.
