With Sports Authority’s name getting tossed aside by the Denver Broncos, the team will be looking for a new headliner for the stadium. Who that will be, though, is anyone’s guess.
For fans, it’s difficult to watch the stadium name change so many different times. It’s gone from the classic Mile High Stadium to Invesco Field to to Sports Authority Field at Mile High to who knows what.
Former NFL linebacker Chad Brown joined the Afternoon Drive to talk about the new stadium name, and in the end, he says it doesn’t matter.
“When I talk with people around town, people still call it Mile High. These stadiums change all the time, I think we tend to go by the more iconic things,” Brown said.
Fans may care to a certain degree if the name changes or not, but do the players care at all if the stadium has a different name?
“Im going to work, I’m worried about the game, I’m worried about my opponent,” said former Bronco Tyler Polumbus. “At the end of the day, as long as we are collecting our pay checks, I don’t think that anybody is caring what the name is on the stadium.”
As long as the money that the team gets from the sponsorship goes back to the team and helps create a fun experience for the fans, it doesn’t really matter what the stadium will be called, because in reality fans will always call it Mile High.
