The first-place Denver Outlaws (8-2) increased their lead over the rest of the MLL to 1.5 games with a 13-11 road win over the Ohio Machine (7-4) on Saturday in Obetz, Ohio. With the victory, the Outlaws improved to 5-0 on the road the season.
Attackman Eric Law (three goals, one assist) and midfielder Wes Berg (three goals, one assist) each recorded their fourth hat tricks of the season. Attackman Mike Bocklet (two goals), midfielder Zach Currier (one goal, one assist) and midfielder Romar Dennis (2-pt. goal) also tallied multi-point games.
Goalie Jack Kelly was named the Player of the Game after recording a career-best 22-saves, highlighted by a second half in which he allowed just four goals.
Neither team was able to open up more than a two-goal advantage in the first half, as back-and-forth scoring kept both teams within striking distance of each other. With the game tied at 10 in the fourth quarter, Dennis scored the game-winner on his first-career two-point goal.
The Outlaws earned their third consecutive win despite playing without MLL All Stars defenseman Matt Bocklet and faceoff specialist Tom Kelly. Rookie defenseman Larken Kemp recorded his first-career assist and corralled two ground balls while midfielder Max Adler won 15-of-27 faceoffs (55.6 percent) in his MLL debut.
Denver will be back in action on Thursday as they take on the Rochester Rattlers on the road (5 p.m. MDT faceoff).
