It’s one thing to observe an NFL player from afar. Watching games occasionally when the athletes’ team is highlighted as the ‘game of the week’ on national TV networks is one thing, but to see a player up close reveals the little details and intricacies of their regimen, habits and work ethic.
Former Redskins tight end and current Washington radio talk show host Chris Cooley joined Eric Goodman and Les Shapiro of Mile High Sports AM 1340 | FM 104.7, and shared what he’s observed from quarterback Kirk Cousins, a potential free-agent target for the Broncos. “Kirk, as a person and player? Incredibly detailed. Hard worker. Does everything the way you want it done,” Cooley said. “[He] operates entirely within the process. He’s kind of the perfect example, perfect role model.”
And when asked if Cousins can be a top-five quarterback in the NFL, Cooley responded with a resounding yes.
“He can be a top-five guy. He does everything on the football field. He actually has a very good arm. He can make every throw. He’s very, very smart, he’s continuing to be better in terms of improvisation throws, and movement outside of the pocket, off-schedule things… From me, watching the guy from the time he’s been here, he has every athletic attribute, plus the mental capacity to run [an] offense, to be elite.”
